Free Hreflang Tag Generator

Generate hreflang link tags for equivalent pages that serve different languages or regions. Hreflang is only useful when each URL is a genuine alternate version of the same content for a defined audience.

Hreflang tags tell Google which language and region each version of a page targets, so the right visitors land on the right URL. Add one row per locale, point each at its live URL, and set an x-defaultfor users who don't match any locale. Built for founders shipping a multi-region site without an SEO plugin.

LocaleURLRemove

The fallback URL for visitors whose language or region matches none of the above. Usually your language selector or primary version.

2 locales without a URL are skipped.

Add at least one locale with a URL (or an x-default) to generate your tags.

How it works

Paste every tag into the <head> of each language version. Each page in the set must list the full set of alternates — including a self-reference — so the mapping is bidirectional. Locale codes follow language or language-REGION (e.g. fr, en-GB, es-419). The x-default tag is optional but recommended for unmatched visitors.

What is hreflang?

Hreflang is an HTML or HTTP-header annotation that identifies language and regional alternatives of a page. It helps search engines select the most suitable version for a searcher when your site publishes equivalent content in multiple locales.

When should I use hreflang?

Use hreflang only for real translated or regional equivalents, such as English pages for the United States and United Kingdom. Do not use it for unrelated pages, keyword variations, or a site that has only one language version.
